Taking The High Road Hi, I met someone today, who has really taught me that some things are truly out of my hands. There must be evil for good to exist, there must be the night to give rise to day, so it really isn't my place to correct some people, especially if they are simply stubborn narcissistic and are plain trouble makers for digging up the past. It wasn't easy to just take a deep breath and let go. But it is lighter and easier than bearing a grudge for the years to come. Besides getting my feathers all ruffled up for such people, really isn't worth it. Some people are simply born without a heart or conscience. To them, there is take but no give, fault but no responsibility to take, the right to push the blame but no ability to take the blame, the instinct to forgive themselves but an inability to forgive others, the vision to see things from their own perspectives but are blind to see from that of others, there is assumption but no understanding, but worst of all, there is me myself & I but no you, them or others. Ask not what a relationship can give you, but what you can give to the relationship (yes so i mutilated the quote a little hahaha) A relationship is not measured by what you get, but by the amount of love involved. And love cannot be quantified. If a relationship is right, things will fall into place, little force is needed, for both parties will come willingly. As much as I am sad for you that your relationship ended badly, but I hope you find within you the ability to let go and forgive, maybe even to consider the feelings of others. But as they say, a leopard never changes its spots. So I shall care a little less, and rejoice in what I have. Dwell not on the negative and relish in the positive. Be a little more grateful, there is always something to be grateful about we just have to open our eyes. This is me taking the high road. Some people, just simply have nothing better to do, its just so sad for them. "We should be too big to take offense and too noble to give it." Abraham Lincoln "The time is always right to do the right thing." Martin Luther King, Jr. "The high road is always respected. Honesty and integrity are always rewarded." Scott Hamilton "Taking the high road is usually not the easy one to take or the most popular. The low road seems to offer instant satisfaction. It may seem better for the moment, but if you compromise you principles and your integrity, it will always end up costing you far more in the long run." - Billy Cox "When things go wrong or circumstances are created beyond your control, don’t waste valuable time blaming others for what happened. Shift your attention from what is wrong to what the situation will look like in the future."
